Northern Ethiopia: Simien Mountains Trekking

Simien Mountains National Park- commonly known as the “Roof of Africa”, the mountains high lands constitute on of the major mountain massif in Africa. The region includes many summits above 4000 meters and culminates in the highest point in Ethiopia, Ras Dajen, at 4543 meters, the fourth highest mountain in Africa. Its dramatic topography is the result of the erosion of basalt lavas, which have been calculated to be nearly 3000 meters thick. The park is interesting because of the uniqueness of its endemic animals, the beauty of its flora, and the majesty of its impressive landscape. In the park, we can find three of the most colorful endemic mammals in Ethiopia: the Walia Ibex, the Gelada Baboon, and the Ethiopian Wolf (Red Fox) and there are also more than 50 different bird species have been identified, among them a great many scavengers and birds of prey.

Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive at Bale International Airport (Addis Ababa) where you will be met by Passion Ethiopia Tours representative and transfer to hotel. O/N – Hotel
Day 2: Fly to Gondar and drive to Sankaber (3200 m) – O/n camping.
Day 3: Trek to Geech. (3600 m)- O/N – Camping
Day 4: Trek to Imetgogo (3900 m)- and back to Geech (3600 m)- O/n Camping
Day 5: Trek to Chenek (3600 m)- O/n Camping
Day 6: Trek to Ambiquo (3200 m)- climbing Buhit Mountain (4430 m), the 2nd highest peak next to Ras Dashen in Simien Mountain ranges. O/N – Camping.
Day 7: Trek and climbs to the Ras Dashen the highest peak in Ethiopia (4543 m) and return to Ambiquo. O/N – Camping.
Day 8: Trek to Sona (2800 m)-O/N – Camping.
Day 9: Trek to Makarebia. (2000m).O/N – Camping.
Day 10: Trek to Mullit. (1800m). O/N – Camping.
Day 11: Trek to Adi Arkai and drive back to Gondar. (2100m). O/n Hotel
Day 12: Fly back to Addis and sightseeing tour and then departure.
